Perfect for adding some height to the back of a border. Best grown in partial to full shade and well-watered spots. Best of all…the stems can be used for flavour gin!
Sow: March to May or August to October
Harvest: Once flowers turn to seed pods
Height: up to 2m
Sow in pots or a seed tray or direct where it is to grow if sowing in Autumn and cover lightly as light is required for germination. Transplant when young as older plants dislike being moved. Angelica can be slow to germinate taking up to 30 days so be patient. If germination does not occur cold stratify by moving the seeds to -4 to +4°C for 4-6 weeks, then return to warmth for germination.
Patience does reward; Angelica has delicate stems and sprays of white bloom…and don’t forget the Gin!
